Question: What is the largest international competition
for golf teachers in the world?
Answer: The World Golf Teachers Cup, presented
by the World Golf Teachers Federation.
The
best part is, you can be a part of this history-making
occasion. Boulder
Creek Golf Club and Boulder
City Golf Course in…where else?...Boulder City,
Nevada, will host the 8th biennial playing of this prestigious
event, and also the 12th annual United States Golf Teachers
Cup, October 23-26, 2007. With a full field of 208 expected,
this will be the largest Cup in the event's history.
A minimum purse of $50,000 (based on a full field
of 208) will be offered in total for both events. All
WGTF members in good standing are invited to submit
their entries on a first-received, first-served basis.
United
States Golf Teachers Cup defending champion James Douris
from Australia will have his hands full during his title
defense. Douris will also represent Team Australia during
the team portion of the World Golf Teachers Cup, and
the Aussies have formed a formidable squad. Five-time
champion Team USA and Team Canada are also expected
to be among the favorites.
Each
event is scheduled for two rounds.
United
States Golf Teachers Cup, October 23-24, 2007.
This individual stroke-play event will be held in four
divisions: Open, Senior, Super Senior, and Women's.
As a special consideration, prize money will also be
awarded to men over 70 and women over 50. Any ties for
overall or individual championship will be decided by
3-hole playoff. All WGTF members are welcome to participate.
World
Golf Teachers Cup, October 25-26, 2007.
Team and individual play will be held concurrently.
Individual play will be held in the four divisions,
and each team will consist of a minimum of five and
a maximum of six in a play-six, count-five format. Teams
may be composed of individuals from any division. All
who do not qualify for team play will still compete
in the individual portion. Team selection will be by
country. Should a country not have enough eligible players,
it may combine its team with another country who also
does not have enough eligible players (minimum of five,
maximum of six).
Primary eligibility: players may play
for either the country of their residence, nationality,
or their country of certification. Should a player not
make the team of their primary eligibility, they are
then free to play for another country. If a country
has six players of primary eligibility on site, it cannot
take other players. Ties for team championship will
be decided by sixth-person scores over two rounds. Ties
for individual and division championships will be decided
by 3-hole playoff.
The
